About Us

Dr. Trent Dean DC BPE CCSP

Meet Our Founder and Lead Chiropractor

Hello, I'm Dr. Trent Dean, the clinic director and operator of the Chiropractic Family Wellness Centre. Since our doors opened in the heart of Calgary's Mission community in 1995, my commitment has been unwavering: to provide exceptional chiropractic care tailored to the needs of athletes, active individuals, families, and children.

Education and Expertise

My journey in chiropractic care is rooted in a deep understanding of physical health. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the University of Calgary, I was drawn to the transformative power of chiropractic medicine. This passion led me to Palmer College of Chiropractic, where I graduated in 1995. Further honing my skills, I became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner in 1999, a testament to my dedication to supporting athletes and active lifestyles.

Personal Life and Community Connection

Calgary is more than just the location of our clinic; it's my home. I grew up here, and since 1997, I've been happily married to Carla, a dedicated Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner specializing in spinal patients. Together, we've nurtured a family that shares a love for active living. Our two sons, Owen and Easton, have embraced their passion for hockey, with Owen studying and playing at a university in Wisconsin and Easton playing Junior hockey in Okotoks.

Living the Chiropractic Lifestyle

Chiropractic care is not just my profession; it's a cornerstone of our family's life. It has played a pivotal role in maintaining our active lifestyle, keeping us engaged in the sports we love. I personally enjoy staying active through hockey in the winter and golf in the summer.

At the Chiropractic Family Wellness Centre, my goal is to extend this philosophy of active, health-focused living to all our patients. Whether you're an athlete, a weekend warrior, a parent, or a child, our team is here to support your journey to optimal health.

Dr. Jonathan Okrainetz

I am a Sport Specialist Chiropractor, bringing with me over 10 years of clinical practice experience. Since graduating from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2016, I have been privileged to treat a wide variety of patients and conditions and hold health care support roles at numerous high level sporting events.

I pride myself on utilizing a patient-centred and evidence-based approach to chiropractic care, incorporating soft tissue mobilization, rehabilitative exercise, and neurofunctional acupuncture interventions alongside spinal manipulation therapy into my treatment approach to help my patients get out of pain faster and achieve both their functional and performance goals.

Who and What Conditions do I Treat?

You do not have to be an athlete or even athletic to benefit from my treatment approach. Through the completion of my Sports Sciences Residency, I refined my diagnostic and treatment expertise for many sport related injuries – issues that anyone can suffer. I believe that this additional training allows me to better assist anyone to achieve their full health and performance potential.

While chiropractic care is rooted in the management of spine-related dysfunctions, l most recently provided care as an expert assessor at a knee & sport injury clinic, ensuring proper diagnosis and management of sport and knee injuries. I also am a certified Complete Concussion Management provider, helping patients optimize their recovery following concussion injuries.

Get To Know Me

I grew up in Saskatchewan playing both soccer and figure skating at a competitive level, which developed my interest in human movement and performance and ultimately led me to pursue a career as a Chiropractor.

When I’m not in the clinic, I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible with my wife and two kids – hiking, biking, and golfing, and skiing are the go-to activities.

I have remained involved with competitive sports since hanging up my skates and cleats. I currently serve as the Team Chiropractor for the Cavalry Football Club, and I am a national level figure skating judge with Skate Canada.
